Permanecer is a long-term documentary photographic project developed in rural Extremadura, Spain, exploring the relationship between people, landscape and the traces left by time.
Rather than focusing on isolated events, the project observes the gradual transformation of inhabited rural environments and the marks that remain after ways of life, people and places change.
Through landscape, architecture, objects, vegetation and human presence, the work explores memory, belonging and the persistence of identity in territories undergoing transformation. The project is structured in three chapters — Resistencia, Transición and Vestigios — which approach different forms of permanence and change.
