


Thousands Gather in Najaf to Commemorate the Death of Prophet Muhammad
NAJAF, IRAQ – AUGUST 12, 2026: Shiite Muslim pilgrims gather in the holy city of Najaf to commemorate the death anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad, traditionally observed on the 28th day of Safar. Mourners attended religious gatherings and visited holy sites across the city, including the Imam Ali Shrine, amid an atmosphere of mourning, prayer and devotion.
