ROME, ITALY – OCTOBER 24, 2026: Demonstrators marched through central Rome on Saturday under the slogan “Fuori l’Italia dalla guerra” (“Keep Italy Out of the War”), protesting against increased military spending, Italy’s involvement in armed conflicts and the government’s policies.
Participants carried a large banner in the colours of the Italian flag, alongside Palestinian flags and handmade placards criticising war and spending on weapons. The procession passed the Colosseum, while police equipped with helmets and shields were deployed during the demonstration.
The mobilisation brought together anti-war and anti-imperialist associations. Organisers called for an independent and neutral Italy, opposed NATO and plans to expand Europe’s military capabilities, and expressed solidarity with Palestinians.
Their appeal invoked Article 11 of the Italian Constitution, which repudiates war, and emphasised the nonviolent character of the initiative.
