Housing rights activists blocked Avinguda Diagonal during a demonstration outside the Palau de Congressos in Barcelona, where Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez was attending an event.
Protesters called for stronger tenant protections, an end to evictions, automatic renewal of rental contracts and tighter rent regulation ahead of the government’s planned housing decree. Barcelona’s municipal police estimated attendance at around 2,000; organizers put it at 20,000.
