TUNIS, TUNISIA — OCTOBER 17, 2026: Demonstrators marched through Tunis calling for social and economic reforms and the protection of civil liberties, amid concerns over rising living costs, workers’ rights and freedom of expression.
Organized by trade unions, journalists’ representatives, lawyers and civil society groups, the demonstration brought together protesters demanding accountability and defending fundamental rights.
The march highlighted concerns over Tunisia’s economic situation and the space for public dissent, linking demands for improved living conditions with the protection of freedom of expression.
