Ashura in Piraeus: Faith, Memory and Mourning
Piraeus, Greece — June 26, 2026. Members of Greece's Shia Muslim community take part in Ashura commemorations in central Piraeus. Ashura marks the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, and is one of the most important religious observances in Shia Islam.
