LE PORGE / LACANAU, France — July 2026: Burned homes and scorched landscapes remain across the village of Le Porge, one of the communities hardest hit by the Gironde wildfires near Bordeaux. Volunteers from the animal rescue organisation Wany the Pooh search damaged properties for pets left behind during the evacuations, while local farmers and residents transport water from Lacanau Lake to support firefighting operations near Le Temple.
