Barcelona protesters demand action against evictions

Barcelona, Spain – September 23, 2026
A large crowd gathered in front of the Government Delegation building in Barcelona to protest against evictions and in support of Mari Carmen, an 87-year-old woman evicted in Madrid.

The unions criticized the central government for stalling the Housing Decree-Law announced in June and demanded its immediate approval. They also called on parliamentary groups to guarantee its passage before the end of the legislative session.
The government has brought the eviction ban before Parliament three times, and it has been rejected each time.
